Hastings Progressives is a progressive community organization in our own hometown. When they needed a real digital backbone, we built the whole thing: web presence, CRM, e-commerce, and a brand identity that feels like Hastings. It's the clearest picture of what our consulting practice does, and it's work we do as volunteers, because this one is home.
Web presence
- Built and deployed the group's site, hosted on Vercel.
- Managed the domain migration of hastingsprogressives.com.
CRM & organizing infrastructure
- Set up EveryAction CRM, approved through Indivisible's program.
- Built newsletter templates for regular member communication.
- Configured digital organizing workflows aligned with Indivisible's distributed fundraising program.
E-commerce
- Integrated a Bonfire merch shop for proceeds-based fundraising.
Branding
- Led the full brand identity project: logo, color palette (navy, teal, brick red, cream), and wordmark.
- Coordinated the bridge-and-sunset logo and retro wordmark with designer Ayra.
And then, Foedera
The newest piece of the work is Foedera, an Empty Bar LLC nonprofit giving directory that grew out of this work, so that Indivisible groups across Minnesota can find vetted, IRS-verified organizations to receive their donated proceeds.
The ongoing role
This isn't a one-and-done engagement. Brian serves as the group's digital organizer and infrastructure lead, collaborating with its leadership on continued development. The infrastructure keeps growing because the organizing keeps growing.
Empty Bar supports Hastings Progressives on a volunteer basis. Hastings Progressives is an independent, Indivisible-affiliated organization in Hastings, Minnesota.
