Open source tool for school counselors

Caselo

Shows a school counselor which students may need support, and why, without student data ever leaving the computer.

The problem

Counselors have the data to see who needs support, but pulling it out of the student information system takes hours, and student records can't be uploaded to outside tools.

What I built

A tool that runs entirely in the browser. A counselor drops in up to four exports from the student information system and sees attendance, grade and behavior flags sorted into tiers, with the reason behind every flag and what changed since last term. A de-identified summary can be printed or shared. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

Built with

Vite, React, TypeScript, DuckDB in the browser (WebAssembly), Vitest, Vercel. Open source under the MIT license.

Where it stands

Live at caselo.org, starting with Infinite Campus exports. An optional AI draft built only from the de-identified summary is in development.
